ROCKY MOUNTAIN PARALEGAL ASSOCIATION

Stefanie M. Trujillo - President & Chief Executive Officer

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
                Section

The Intellectual Property Section ("IPS") is intended to be an educational and social forum that brings together intellectual property paralegals and paraprofessionals to:

Support one another through a list-serv-type forum/bulletin board where members can share tips, ask questions, and seek advice. It is intended to be a judgment-free zone with the mindset of "there are no stupid questions" or "I've never seen this situation before, but I bet someone else has..."

Connect in person at least once per calendar year, but hopefully quarterly, while also bridging our distance through virtual meeting opportunities. We also will connect fellow members to people, websites, training, webinars, and other opportunities that may deepen our skill sets and increase the value of our services.

Promote one another through employment opportunities within our networks, firms, and vetted recruiter opportunities. We will help one another achieve our career goals individually and bolster the IP paralegal landscape collectively.

Foster relationships with mutually beneficial groups such as NALA, AIPLA, statewide bar organizations, Inns of Court, etc., to advocate for our members (e.g., better HR practices, including competitive salaries, etc.).

*Section Membership Requirements: You must be a current RMPA member in good standing. See FAQs for more information.*

Chair:  Jill Santuccio

Jill Santuccio is currently an intellectual property paralegal at the Denver law firm Holzer Patel Drennan. After a 25-year career in journalism, PR/communications and non-profit consulting in Charlotte, N.C., Jill returned to Colorado to be closer to family and became a paralegal in her fifties! Intellectual Property (IP) blends her unique passions for writing, proofreading and filling out forms -- patent applications and non-profit grant applications are amazingly similar. Prior to joining Holzer Patel Drennan, she assisted with U.S. and foreign patent prosecution at both boutique and Am Law 200 firms. With immense gratitude to her IP mentors thus far, she’s passionate about creating a community and “safe space” for fellow IP paralegals and paraprofessionals as they navigate this fun, yet often perplexing, field of law.

IP Section Meeting

The IPS meets on the second

Wednesday of every month at noon via Zoom

with periodic in-person meetings.

Visit the RMPA Events Page to register.

RMPA IPS Group ("IPSG")

The IPSG is similar to a ListServ. It was created for RMPA members in good standing who are intellectual property paralegals or paraprofessionals. IPSG members may seek input from peers, collaborate, share and engage in ongoing conversation related to working as an intellectual property paralegal or paraprofessional.

*Engaging in the unauthorized practice of law is strictly prohibited.*

FAQs

Do I have to live or work in the RMPA region (CO, SD, NM, UT or WY) to be a member?
Absolutely not! That is a huge part of the reason we will only meet in person once per quarter. The apparent lack of a national/international, U.S.-based organization for IP paralegals and paraprofessionals was the impetus for starting this group. We aspire to be all-encompassing with great IP professionals around the globe, so join the community, even if you’re not in the Rocky Mountains!

How much does it cost?
As of January 20, 2026, the applicable RMPA membership levels are: Voting Member ($100/year), Individual Supporter ($80/year) and Student Member ($45/year). Student members must show proof of current enrollment.

Firm Bundles also are available for small (up to five memberships), mid-size (6-15 memberships) and large (16-25 memberships) firms with multiple participants. Ask for more details.

Can I earn CLEs for participating?
Because not all states require CLEs for paralegals, we do not have a formal CLE program. However, should you need documentation of your full participation in a session, please let us know at least 48 hours in advance so we can honor your request.
